1996年1月にロンドンで初ライブを行うために3か月前に結成したというCRISPY NUTSは正確には今年「30TH ANNIVERSARY +1」を迎える！
30TH ANNIVERSARY+1を記念して、2枚の新作EPをあえて同時にリリース！ CRISPY NUTSが自ら運営するCRISPYNUTS LABELとアメリカのJOE POGO RECORDSが手を組んだコラボリリース！ 今回の2作品で、おそらく通算10枚目、11枚目になるらしい。
急すぎる発売日に慌ててレビューを書くため、急きょ仕事をばっくれて、この2枚のレコードを繰り返し何度も聴いている。
実際に手に取って聴き、歌詞を読めばわかるけど、これは1枚ずつテーマの違うEPだ。ジャケットデザインの違いにも頷ける。
優しいけど挑発的なヴォーカルと、心の熱量が突き刺さるギター。そこに疾走感満載なのに緻密なベースライン、曲のテンションを一段上まで引き上げる完璧なドラミングとコーラスが重なり、聴く人の心にぶち込んでくる。
明るいけど、どこか切ないメロディと歌詞には普遍性があって、そのせいかクソみたいな生き方をしていた自分の過去まで思い返された。
30年も生きていれば人は変わるし、付き合う友だちも変わってくる。大切な人やペット、過去の自分が死んでしまったこともある。
でも、その時々に自分が選んだ生き方や考え方が間違っていようが関係ない。すべては無駄にはならないし、周囲に気を遣って同調する必要なんてないんだ。
俺はいま、この最高の2枚のレコードを聴きながら、久しぶりのビールを飲んでいる。
30年前の日本のパンクシーンは細分化されていて、CRISPY NUTSと出会うことはなかった。それが縁あって今、こうしてレビューを書かせてもらっている。そんなことを当時の俺に知らせてみたいな。大好きなバンドなんだぜって‼
メロディック・パンクとカテゴライズされているみたいだけど、30+1年前にノリと勢いだけの初期衝動で結成し、今もまったくブレずに活動し続けているCRISPY NUTSこそ100% PURE PUNK ROCKだ‼
この2枚のレコードには、ステージ上で放たれるメンバー3人のオーラがばっちりと刻まれている‼

Crispy Nuts is back with new material after quite some time away, and man, I love this band. It's loud, it's obnoxious, and it does not fucking care what you think. This is 100% two-fingers-in-the-air punk rock.
The songs are fast and short. You can shout along even if you don't know the lyrics, in fact you will even if you don't want to. It's the absolute right kind of chaos. Momo leads on vocals, and for many years now I have love the sound: female-fronted, just shouting right at you. The music always carries a momentum forward, so you want that next verse, you want that next bar, and you want to plow into the next track. You feel that come through on the recording exactly like you do when you see them live.
And through all of it, Crispy Nuts has always been so fucking catchy. You can't help but smile when you stomp around. waving two fingers in the face if everyone whether you're hearing it on the record or live.
If you're tired of all the other crap but you love punk, you'll love this. There's no bullshit here. It's just in-your-face music. Check it out if you haven't. And if you already know the band, you're gonna love it. What other bands does it sound like ... Crispy Nuts. So fuck you.
